BBC Studios has announced the launch of Landed, a new drama production label based in Bristol that will be dedicated to developing ambitious and enduring series that appeal both domestically and internationally.
The label will be led by Jenny van der Lande (pictured), who joins following a decade shaping some of British television’s most successful and critically acclaimed dramas.
Sitting within BBC Studios’ scripted label portfolio, Landed will focus on creating evergreen drama—bold, emotionally resonant stories designed to stand the test of time. With a boutique, writer‑first approach, van der Lande will adopt a bespoke approach to work closely with top‑tier talent to support them in honing their most cherished and compelling ideas.
By prioritising quality and keeping the slate focused, the label aims to nurture dramas with the potential to become modern classics. Outward‑looking in ambition, the label aims to draw on the UK’s extraordinary storytelling heritage while championing voices and stories with global appeal.
Van der Lande joins from Big Talk, where she was Creative Director for Drama. Prior to that, she led the editorial vision at Brontë and Snowed‑In. She has developed and executive produced a string of critical and commercial hits including Strike (BBC/HBO Max), Mrs Wilson (BBC/PBS, BAFTA‑nominated), The Midwich Cuckoos (Sky), You Don’t Know Me (BBC/Netflix, BAFTA‑nominated), Too Close (ITV, BAFTA‑nominated), Joan (ITV/CW) and Possession (Sky Atlantic). Earlier in her career she developed London Spy (BAFTA‑nominated) and You, Me and the Apocalypse for Working Title TV, following more than a decade at the BBC including a BAFTA‑winning run as Series Editor on Casualty.
Born, raised, and based in Bristol, van der Lande is a passionate advocate for talent from across the UK.
Jenny van der Lande said: “I’ve been developing tv drama for a long time but there’s still nothing that makes me happier than the moment a brilliant writer shares a new idea. I can’t quite believe my luck that I’ve been offered the chance to return to the BBC – where I trained – to develop the next generation of dramas from writers I adore. It feels like a homecoming, and I can’t wait to build a creative space for world‑class British talent to develop their most honest work away from the noise. Aiming to pair real heart with rigour, I hope to find dramas that will work globally and endure, I’m so grateful for the support of Zai, Jamie, and the writers I work with, to take this next step. It’s a great privilege and I can’t wait to get going.”
Jamie Hall, MD for BBC Studios Scripted, said: “I am delighted to welcome Jenny to BBC Studios and am excited to be setting up “Landed” with her. Her creative sensibility, editorial judgement, and ability to deliver outstanding drama with great writers make her a fantastic addition to the studio. I can’t wait to start working with her and seeing what she is going to build with us all at BBC Studios.”
BBC Studios Scripted is home to some of the UK’s most ambitious and acclaimed scripted producers, including its Drama and Fiction & Comedy in-house teams and owned labels including Lookout Point, Baby Cow, Firebird Pictures, House Productions, Sid Gentle Films Ltd and Clerkenwell Films.
Landed Productions will become its latest new label when van der Lande joins in January 2027.
